Welcome to PCN International - London Branch

Genesis of the London Branch

Peoples Club of Nigeria International, London Branch started just like the parent body with a few like-minded people led by Mr. Uzoma as Co-ordinator. Their first ever meeting was held in Mr Uju Eronini’s house with his wife Bisi playing a very important role as the “Osika ite 1” of the branch. Just like the parent body, their meetings moved from place to place until they were able to make contact with Peoples Club chieftains in Nigeria. They held meetings in places like St. Mary’s Church in Battersea Park Road and in the Tower Bridge area of London. At this point, the branch had not been formally recognised by the Peoples Club hierarchy in Nigeria. Subsequently, a delegation of members was sent to Nigeria to present the case for the branch to be formally established.

Unexpectedly, another faction of the Club led by O. Onyebalu claimed to have Chief A Ilodibe (Ekene dili chukwu) as its sponsor sprang up around Stockwell. Meanwhile, the current branch had the full backing of Sir Joe Nwankwu (Onwanetiliorah), Eze Des Ogugua (Mmirinedoroha) and Okari White. It was a turbulent time! However, after a series of meetings with Peoples Club National Lord, Sir Joe Nwankwu, who gave them first hand information about the club and having finally received a letter of authority from the National Headquarters permitting them to establish Peoples Club of Nigeria International in London in 1993, they got together and had a consensus of opinion to schedule a time table for election of officers to run the branch.

The first election of the branch was conducted in April 1994. Chief Barr. NDA Ezechie contested against Dr James Oniah and at the end of the election Chief Barr Ezechie was elected first International Chairman of Peoples Club of Nigeria International, London branch. Mr Okechukwu Uzodimma was elected unopposed as the first General Secretary of the branch. The Club Chatter was thus handed over to the newly elected Chairman of the London branch. The branch was formally inaugurated as a body in 1994 under the chairmanship of Chief Barr. NDA Ezechie who successfully led and nurtured the club for 12 years. He conducted the first ever international induction of new members outside Nigeria in 2003 before stepping down and handing over to Mr Okechukwu Uzodimma in 2004.

In November 2006, Chief Barr NDA Ezechie became the first ever International Patron of Peoples Club of Nigeria. It is pertinent to state also that Chief NDA Ezechie is not only the first International Patron but also first International Co-ordinator and an approved International legal adviser by the National Headquarters.
In August 2012, Chief (Sir) Nwosu Chinedu Nwosu (Udoakpuenyi Ekwe) contested against Dr. James Oniah (Akunwata) and at the end of the free and fair election which was supervised by Chief Shed Ekwegh (National Financial Secretary),
Chief (Sir) Nwosu C. Nwosu was duly elected the Chairman of the London International branch.
Mr Edmund Asikawuru was elected unopposed to the post of General Secretary and the team is supported by a very strong and knowledgeable executive.

Peoples club observes a unique protocol anchored on: respect for one another and recognition of each others adherence to a strict code of social ethics and decorum.
During the period 2005 - 2012, the London branch of the club held one induction ceremony under the leadership of President Emeritus, Chief F.A. Onwuachu, who was represented by Dr. J.I. Ilonze.
